Laboratory Capacity Building Activity/Workshop

Date: April-August 2013
Location: China and Peru

Planning is moving forward with an APEC PTIN workshop on Laboratory Capacity building. This is part of the larger APEC Multi year project. Two pilot economies have been chosen: China and Chile. Work is being guided by a Scientific Technical Advisory Group to develop a customized roadmap for each of these economies to guide them through the process of taking the steps necessary to develop a comprehensive food safety laboratory system. The project will be structured as part self-evaluation, part decision tree, part guidance document, and part resource library. Once developed for the two pilot economies, this approach will be employed on an economy-by-economy or facility-by-facility basis, as interest and resources are available.
