APEC FSCF PTIN: Capacity Building in Food Safety - Developing Food Safety Plans for the Supply Chain

The 2010 showcase event of the Food Safety Cooperation Forum (FSCF) Partnership Training Institute Network (PTIN) is a three-day supply chain training module, Capacity Building in Food Safety: Developing Food Safety Plans for the Supply Chain, to be held November 5-7, 2010, in Beijing, China.

Supply chain food safety management is the responsibility to assure that products received from suppliers meet regulatory, legal, and contractual food safety standards. The goal of this workshop is to provide an opportunity for members of industry, government, and academia to improve understanding and application of best practices and innovative technologies in supply chain management and implementation of a food safety plan. In addition to a two-day overview, the workshop will also include a full-day focus on the aquaculture supply chain.

The hands on training developed for this event will be incorporated into two stand-alone training modules: one on the development and implementation of a generic food safety plan, and one on the application of supply chain management to the aquaculture sector. These will serve as the first PTIN training modules, and will be a model for future modules, which can be easily replicated or customized as needed to fulfill future training needs of APEC members.
